Acupuncture- traditional Asian medicine treatment of pain or disease by inserting the tips of needles at specific points on the skin; helps the flow of energy through the body called chi (pronounced "chee") to run smoothly

Akashic Records- the records of each soul's many incarnations and development on Earth and on all other planets

Altered State- state of consciousness in which a person is more deeply relaxed, less aware of the thinking mind, and more open and vulnerable than they are in day to day functioning

Angels- divine beings who do god-source work and help earth to varying degrees. Many religions discuss the hierarchy of angels, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Kabbalism and Zoroastrianism.

Below is listed the Christian hierarchy of Angels with which most
westerners would be familiar:

Hierarchy of Angels
*Seraphim- highest order of angels, closest to god-source,
their work is to worship and praise god-source
*Cherubim- second highest order of angels, powerful angel
beings who surround god-source throne
*Thrones- third highest order of angels, also known as
"wheels" or "many eyed ones," charioteers to
the god-source, have four wings and four faces
*Rulers- fourth highest order of angels, decide the
success or failure of nations
*Virtues- fifth highest order of angels, also known as, "the
brilliant or shining ones," their work includes
miracles & blessings, they help people who
struggle with their faith
*Powers- sixth highest order of angels, responsible for
maintaining the border between heaven
and earth, first angels to be created by
god-source, protectors against demonic
attack (both of earth and people)
*Principalities or Princes- seventh highest
order of angels, manage the duties of all the
angels, guardians over all nations and leaders
of the world, dressed like soldiers
*Archangels- eighth highest order of angels, carry god-source
messages to humans, included are
Ariel, Azrael, Camael, Chamuel, Gabriel,
Haniel, Jeremiel, Jophiel, Metetron, Michael,
Raguel, Raphael, Raziel,, Uriel,
and Zadkiel

Apparition- a ghostly appearing figure

Aromatherapy- very concentrated "essential" oils from the flowers, leaves, bark, branches, rind or roots of plants that hold healing properties

Ascended Master- an enlightened being who after death chose not to assimilate into the god-source but still takes an active role in helping humans on earth evolve to their highest potential

Astral Presence- see Astral Shade

Astral Projection- traveling outside one's own body and into the spirit realm

Astral Shade- an intrusive energy presence of someone still living who visits other living people while they are in meditation or asleep

Astrology- the study of the positions of cosmic matter in the belief that these positions affect earth and people

Attachment- spirit energy that never incarnated as human or animal; can be harmful

Aura/ Auric Field- the energy field that surrounds a physical body; it extends approximately 3 feet out from the physical body

Avatara- a female who channels information from ascended masters, angels and divine beings

Ayurveda- sanskrit meaning, "the science of life"

Ayurvedic Medicine- in India this is a kind of traditional medicine dating back 15,000 years. In sanskrit the word ayus means "life" and the word veda means "science."

Beyond the Veil- saying meaning "things beyond our typical five senses"

Chakras- 7 main energy centers in the body that reside along the spinal column and into the head (other chakras include palms, feet etc.)

grounding
*Sacral Chakra- sex organ area, orange color,
symbol: creativity & fertility
*Solar Plexus Chakra- lower abdomen, yellow
color, symbol: will power
*Heart Chakra- heart center, green color,

symbol: power of voice
*Third Eye Chakra- forehead above eyes, indigo
color, symbol: psychic center

Clairaudience- psychic hearing

Claircognizance- psychic knowing

Counter-Transference- when a practitioner allows unresolved feelings and or personal issues to influence their relationship with a client; see also Transference

Crisis Apparition- the sighting of a loved one within hours of their death; often they are coming to say goodbye

Crystal- mineral whose atoms have arranged themselves in precise patterns that occur in geometric forms

Crystalline- mineral whose atoms have formed like in crystals but no geometric forms have developed

Divine Energy- god-source energy

Ectoplasm- the spiritual energy of an entity taking some kind of form

Electrical Projection- also known as "high voltage syndrome"; one stage in the manifestation of poltergeists where people report feeling jolts of electricity

Elementals- non-living manifestations of Earth, Air, Fire, Water or Metal; these manifestations hold no consciousness but do hold great power; can sometimes be destructive

EMF- electromagnetic field

Energy Imprint- non-human manifestation that is left over from an already cleared or removed state

Enlightenment- nirvana, the ultimate state of being, all knowing

Entity- a spirit or presence of a person or animal who was once alive but is no longer living

Esoteric- body of knowledge understood by a small group of people

Etheric Body- a person's energy body, their aura

EVP- electromagnetic voice phenomena; spirit voices captured on tape which cannot be heard with the naked ear

Gem Essences- water containing the healing vibrations of gems & crystals; when sprayed on the body or consumed it helps to heal the subtle energies of the body

Ghost Box- An audio sample device that enables two way connection between the human and spirit worlds

Grounding Chords- three energy cords that run from the bottoms of each foot and the base of the spine connecting a person energetically to the earth; can be any color and size

Guardian Angel- a spirit who chooses to stay with a living person to offer protection; can be a relative or higher being; see also Spirit Guide

Hitchhiker- Spirit energy that attaches itself to you at a location and goes home with you

Homeopathy- A system of therapy based on the concept that disease can be treated with drugs (in minute doses) thought capable of producing the same symptoms in healthy people as the disease itself.

Informed Consent- a client's authorization for services to be preformed by a practitioner. The client or the client's guardian must be fully advised of what the service will entail, its benefits and contraindications, and must be competent to give consent.

Jyotish- sanskrit meaning vedic astrology

Karma- the process by which situations are repeated until the lesson is learned; can be during one lifetime or over many life times

Lightbeing- spirit being of very high vibration, often so bright they are called "light", pure white/ white gold in color

Lightworker- person living on earth working to raise energy vibrations of the people around them, bringing god-source messages to everyday life

Mandala- geometric designs (usually circular) symbolizing the universe; used chiefly in Hinduism and Buddhism as an aid to meditation

Mantra- sacred sound used to raise energy vibrations

Manual Therapist- certified professionals who touch the physical or energetic body of a client

Meditation- a calming of the mind and an introspective reflection during a period of quietness

Medium- a psychic who is able to receive and convey messages from the spirit realm (not every psychic is a medium)

Metaphysics- a branch of philosophy that examines the nature of reality

Mineral- a chemical substance that is part of the earth that has not been generated by a biological process; there are 2,500 different kinds of minerals

Namaste- sanskrit; meaning "the light within me honors the light within you"

Necromancy- Greek word for "consulting the dead"

Paranormal Fog/Mist- visual representation of ectoplasm

Pendulum- any small weight suspended from a chain; used by holding in one hand; from the vibrations in the hand (while still) the chain will swing in a back and forth or side to side pattern indicating answers to questions asked

Poltergeist- German word for "noisy ghost," this type of spirit will move items in a home, make noises and touch people to get attention

Possession- when an entity haunts a person's energy rather than a dwelling

Pranayama- sanskrit meaning concious breathing

Professional Therapeutic Relationship- a relationship between a client and practitioner that focuses on the well being of the client

Psychic- everyone is psychic to some degree in being able to use our sixth sense (some are more attuned to this than others)

Psychometry- psychic ability to read objects

Quartz- a silicon and oxygen mixture; add H2O and it becomes opal

Retrocognition- psychic ability to tune into the past

Residual Haunting- psychic imprint of something violent that took place in a home; like a memory of the event that plays over and over again

Right of Refusal- the entitlement of both the client and the practitioner to end a session or to decline to receive or give a particular kind of technique

Salt- used for thousands of years as a sacramental substance to drive away demons; works best when placed around the perimeter of a dwelling

Sentient Being- conscious being

Shadow People- black mist/shadow figures that have no defining features

Soul Fragment- can occur during times of trauma, fear, or great emotional pain; the astral twin or inner child can break apart

Soul Split- part of a person's own personality splits off

Spectre- ghost or spirit

Spirit Guide- a spirit who chooses to stay with a living person to offer guidance; can be a relative or higher being; see also Guardian Angel

Telekinesis- the ability to move an object on the physical plane using only psychic abilities

Transference- when a client transfers emotionally unresolved feelings subconsciously onto or towards the practitioner; see also Counter-Transference

Usui Reiki- from Japan, meaning "universal life force energy"

Wraith- a spirit who comes back to avenge his or her wrongful death; when seeking this revenge the spirit often cannot make any distinction between the target and other people

Yantra- the act of gazing at a mandala to bring the mind to one point of focus
